The natural gas grill attracts customers with convenience, especially if you’re thinking about a bigger grill. For example, if you have a propane fueled grill and you cook a whole lot, then you often need to refill the tank.
With natural gas, you don’t have that problem as once you get the pipeline installed you have a constant access to gas from a local distributor, which is usually the most cost-effective option.
The advantages of this solution are particularly noticeable if you have a bigger grill and cook a whole lot.
I decided to take a closer look on the matter and picked for you what I believe to be several best natural gas grills.
You need to know that the natural gas version usually costs much more than the way more popular propane. Of course that doesn’t mean that you won’t find something at a lower price, it’s just that the choice is smaller in that price range.

The 4 Best Natural Gas Grills Reviewed
Here’s a list of reviews for different best-rated natural gas grills, I’m sure that one of them will turn out to be perfect for you. Think your choice over carefully, make use of my tips in the second part of the article if you’re a beginner.
The universal size, three burners, functional construction, high quality of workmanship, solid warranty and great price.
These are the words I used for the simplest and fastest description of Weber Spirit II E-310 available in the natural gas version. It is one of the cheapest options in this category despite the price not looking very low at the first glance.
It is a fairly simple model that comes with everything essential complete with the basic, functional elements. The open construction offers a lot of space under the grill, two large side shelves and hooks for accessories.
Under the lid you will find 429 square inches of cooking area, it is enough for most people when it comes to regular everyday cooking.
It comes with three burners which to me is the recommended minimum number for this size. Creating different heat zones is a huge advantage that I make use of a lot while also grilling different kinds of food.
It is possible to buy a separately sold iGrill3 ( bluetooth bbq thermometer ), which is compatible with this model. It makes it possible to monitor the cooking process on the screen of your mobile device.
It doesn’t come with any “extra features” but it has everything that’s needed to be able to grill on the top level.
What matters is the quality of workmanship and trusted manufacturer which is why I went with proven options with a lot of positive reviews.
What matters the most, it is available at a decent price and comes with a great manufacturer’s warranty. Weber systematically proves to its customers that quality of workmanship, functionality and price are the priorities they never forget.
In terms of efficiency and quality it is a similarly high level to the Spirit II series, but with many interesting features added and a slightly bigger cooking area (by about 20%).
An option for more demanding people who expect interesting features and gadgets.
The Genesis II E-335 natural gas grill actually costs a lot, but it gives just as much in return.
A definite upside is the cabinet style design and attention to details (like the steel lid handle).
513 square inches of the main cooking area is truly a lot. A perfect capacity for a regular or a bigger family, or even more than enough for smaller family reunions.
It also comes with three main burners, but due to a larger cooking area their power was increased to provide great effectiveness.
What sets the Genesis II series apart from the competitors’ offer is the functionality owed to two dedicated burners.
The sear burner makes it possible to easily and quickly get perfect sear marks on the surface of meat or veggies. The side burner, on the other hand, will be useful to heat up sauces or prepare any other additions.
Of course this model is also compatible with the separately sold iGrill 3.
The solid structure, on top of its looks, also amazes with its functionality. Large, folding side shelves offer a whole lot of work space whereas the hooks and the space underneath the grill give a lot of room to store accessories etc.
Weber Genesis II E-335 NG is a functional, efficient and solidly built grill, an option for those seeking additional features that increase convenience and versatility.
If you have any doubts regarding the quality of workmanship then check out the 10 year warranty, that should be enough to dispel any doubts in this regard.
The next suggestion is also expensive, for experienced people with a large budget. It’s an option for those seeking a bigger number of burners, plenty of useful features and high quality of workmanship.
Napoleon Grills Prestige 500 is a solidly built natural gas grill, but I was slightly surprised with the plastic finishings of certain minor elements, for this kind of money I’d prefer better detail finishings.
The equipment, on the other hand, is a sight to behold. On top of four main burners, it also comes with two additional dedicated burners ( infrared rear burner and infrared side burner ). When combining them all on such huge area, you get high functionality and freedom during cooking at the same time.
The infrared burners is a whole different technology to regular gas burners, it gives whole new possibilities of making food. Burners of this type are also characterized by the ability to reach the temperature very fast.
On top of the dedicated burners, you can obviously count on functionality of the entire construction. The manufacturer took care of all the basic elements that enhance convenience such as large side shelves for example.
Of course the grill comes with many hooks intended for your favorite accessories. Also under the grill, behind the door, you will find a lot of room to safely store whatever you want.
It’s a solidly built large grill and a suggestion for those seeking interesting features. It’s also a great alternative to the previously presented Genesis II E-335, if for any reason you don’t like it then Napoleon will be a great option to consider.
A definitely higher price range than all of my earlier suggestions. The Summit series is actually among very expensive grills, it’s a suggestion for experienced cooks seeking new experiences with cooking.
On top of the solidly built, durable construction, Weber Summit S-470 is characterized by the best offer of features and gadgets on the market. It’s an option for those who love to experiment and play around when cooking.
It is not a simple grill like turn on the burner, place the meat and done. Here, on top of the four main burners, you have as many as four extra burners to choose from, each of which was made for a completely different purpose.
Of course you can prepare the simplest food without effort by using just the main burners. But if you feel like, you can play around with the additional burners using the sear burner for example to add brilliant sear marks on the surface of your food.
At the same time you can prepare a sauce using the side burner hidden in one of the side shelves. You may also enrich the food’s flavor using the smoker burner to warm up wood chips in the smoker box (which generates smoke).
As you can see, there’s a whole lot of combinations, the good news is that with use of separately sold accessories you can get even more functionality.
The Summit series is a very versatile and solidly built unit that will provide you with a lot of cooking space and very interesting features.
Personally, I recommend buying the natural gas version due to the large number of burners, especially if you cook a lot.
I like the style and the attention to detail, you can also tell that the entire structure was properly made use of. The handles, the room to store things, large side shelves etc, all of that increases comfort and convenience when cooking.
You could say that it is a luxurious grill considering the price, it costs several times as much as the Spirit II series. As I already mentioned, it’s an option for decided and experienced people who will make full use of the features offered by this model – because what do you buy an expensive grill for if not functionality?
Tips for buying a natural gas grill
Budget – Sadly, the natural gas version is among the more expensive types with a few exceptions. There’s no point arguing that it is more like an option for informed people who are happy to invest in something better.
Number of burners – I always say that the minimum number to me is three burners in a stationary grill although I also accept two in much smaller models. It is about the ability to create different heat zones, it provides for better opportunities when cooking.
Size – That’s completely up to individual preferences, you need to think about how much you cook and for how many people so that you don’t buy a grill that is too small. I believe that all three burner versions have the “universal size”, providing enough space for most occasions ( You may like my guide to perfect grills for small spaces ) .
Features – You have a bigger budget and value functionality and gadgets ? In that case I suggest different additional burners that makes it possible to prepare the same type of food in different ways. I recommend a sear burner, which gives great sear marks without effort, as well as other dedicated burners ( side burner or smoker burner plus box for wood chips ).
Additional features, on top of increasing convenience and functionality, also significantly increase the price, which makes it mostly an option for experienced, decided and wealthier clients.
Why Natural Gas Instead of Propane ?
As you may already know, not all gas grills are the same, they divide into two types of fuel – propane and natural gas. When choosing one of them, you won’t be able to use the other, remember that.
I would also advise against all kinds of modifications as that way you will lose the warranty and put yourself at risk if you do something wrong.
Check out the upsides and downsides of both types carefully so that you can make an informed choice of the right grill for your cooking style.
For that purpose, I prepared the key upsides of natural gas fuel type grills:
Economy – A local supplier of natural gas has different prices, usually much lower than a propane supplier. Which makes it all the more convenient to you if you already have an operational natural gas line installed.
Constant gas supply – You don’t have to worry about refilling the tank once in a while, especially if you cook a lot and have a big grill. It requires certain effort to visit the propane tank refilling station, which always takes some time.
Not having to worry about the amount of fuel anymore, you get a lot of convenience but at expense of mobility. A natural gas grill is a great solution if you cook a whole lot, especially when using a big number of burners. Lack of mobility means that it is an option for people who want a big stationary grill.
More on the advantages of the second type of gas can be found in my guide on the best propane grills for every occasion.
